Help, without having to unlock a phone.
In a dangerous moment, nobody has time to unlock a phone, open an app and type a message. This project pairs a small hardware device with a phone app, so one trigger is enough to reach the people who can help.
Built in a team of three in August 2026.
What happens when SOS fires.
An SMS goes out through Twilio with a live location link, and the app can call or start a WhatsApp video call.
Location keeps updating while the alert is active, so contacts can follow, not just find a starting point.
The SOS flow includes audio and video recording to keep as evidence. In this early version, video capture is still partly simulated.
While listening, emergency words like “help”, “danger” or “police” can trigger the alert without touching anything.
A camera view with directions overlaid, to guide you toward safety.
Sign-in and the trusted-contact list are stored with Firebase.
The app is an early version built with Expo and React Native.
Hardware write-up coming.
Photos of the device, its components, the circuit and a video of an SOS going end to end are being put together. This section will fill in soon.
